Main Job Description

It is important to note that Jungle School does not use or agree with the term "shadow teacher". We have used it here because it is the common term used. But we do not ever want to see a teacher just following a child around like a shadow, which often happens in other places.

Things a shadow teacher should do...

1. Create materials specifically tailored to a child's needs

2. Play, run, interact and be crazy with your student

3.Help your student to mirror their peers, make friends, and respond to social cues.

While the goal is to keep students happy while helping them to blend into the regular classroom setting, this is not always possible. Depending on your child, you may need to create a supplemental schedule that is better suitable for them.

You will be required to keep track of their progress and make report cards 4x a year. Depending on your students, monthly progress reports may be required.

It doesn't matter if you are a homeroom teacher or a "shadow teacher", any educator's main job is to be a worthy role model for students who are beginning to idolize the grown-ups in their life. Being silly, curious, and crazy is the best way to keep students engaged and learning. It is also the best way to connect with them on a heart-to-heart level which is what children this age need most.

After school, there are no office hours required.  Teachers often prepare lesson plans & supplies for the following week at school, while games and thematic activities mostly are prepared at home. How each teacher manages their time is up to them, as long as all the preparations are done on time.

Your monthly salary will depend on what grade your student is in, which determines your working hours. It will either be ...

7:30-12:00

7:30-1:30
